Key Details

Arrival/Departure & Transfers

  • We have a group of 20 people, myself & Tash included, for this retreat.

  • In Liberia, you will take a group shuttle to Bodhi Tree. This shuttle is included in your retreat cost and organized through Bodhi Tree.

  • There will be someone there holding a Bodhi Tree Resort sign. Look out for them!

  • The drive from Liberia Airport is about a 2-3 hour drive. Pack snacks, a hat/sunscreen, and liquids to keep you hydrated.

  • I strongly recommend some gravol to have handy as the roads can be bumpy for some period of time. If you are prone to nausea or car sickness be prepared pls.

  • Your departure shuttle is also taken care of if you are leaving on December 7th. If you are staying longer you will need to arrange your own transportation back to the airport.

Money

  • The resort accepts US Dollars or Costa Rican Colon (CRC) in cash, VISA, MasterCard. There is a 13% government sales and services tax in Costa Rica.

  • You will need cash for tours and excursions like zip lining as companies require 50% cash deposit. These can be booked once you arrive at the resort.

  • The resort is also a 15 min walk into town that boasts several shops, cafes, juice bars etc. You may feel like going off the resort for a meal or two or doing a little shopping.

  • We will have one off site dinner at a La Luna restaurant that isn’t covered in your retreat cost.

Food & Drink

Healthy and delicious with a menu designed for active people who care about health and wellness. The resort focuses on providing a balanced diet with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options available.

  • Any restrictions you listed on your forms with Cathy have been passed along to Bodhi Tree.

  • Three meals a day are included, as well as an early morning regular coffee/tea/fruit service. Alcoholic drinks, specialty coffees, specialty juices/smoothies are available at an additional cost.

  • We’ve suggested meal times for us to eat together but please feel free to accommodate your own schedule if you need too. All scheduled items are optional. This is YOUR retreat.

  • Meals are available at the following times at https://bodhitreeyogaresort.com/stay/dining-experience

    • Breakfast: 7:00 AM to 9:30 AM

    • Lunch: 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM

    • Dinner: 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM

A juice bar is also available at the resort where you can buy fresh juice, specialty coffees and snacks. https://bodhitreeyogaresort.com/stay/juice-bar - This was MY FAV place to hang out. The smoothie bowls are unbelievable though not included.

About Our Retreat

I learned over the last couple of years that travel day is exhausting so there is no class that evening. Arrive, check in, eat and sleep.

The retreat will officially kick off Sunday morning with a welcome practice focused on releasing all that stuck travel energy to help you ease into the experience. You’ll see the rest of the schedule below and notice large chunks of free time built in for you to make this retreat your own unique experience.

New This Year

  • Explore Nosara Walks -

    • There is so much to see in and around Nosara and after last year I thought this would be a great idea on the first couple days to take you on a group walk to show you around. This is my 4th year now and I’m basically a local 😂

    • The intention here is to give you an overview of the area so you can continue to explore and shop and visit places throughout the week at your own leisure.

  • More than just Yoga

    • Bringing Tash along for the journey this year is about expanding the offerings. We have vinyasa yoga, yin yoga, yoga nidra, restorative yoga, sound baths and Pilates all mixed in for you throughout the week.

  • No Evening Classes

    • It felt rushed and forced to have classes after dinner last year. I feel dinner is a nice way to cap each day and just chill. We can gather for extra convo, drinks and connect in the evenings.

  • Two Midday Classes/Workshops -

    • These are TBA at the moment. Tash and I have some ideas but we will also go with the flow and energy of the group. Suggestions are welcome for these time slots and if we get to this point of the retreat and you just want more pool time, we can honour that too!

Remember

Everything truly is optional. We’ve scheduled 12 classes total. You are welcome to skip a class, stroll in later if you slept in, or simply come and rest in Savasana if that’s what you need. Seriously. It’s your time. It’s your retreat. Make it your own!

The reason we emphasize this is because the amount of classes is well above most people's usual routine. If anything comes up during your time, if you’d like more or less of anything, please let us know.

Meet Our Co-Host Teacher

Tash joined us as an assistant last year and is back as co-host this year. It was always part of the plan. I met Tash during our time mentoring yoga teachers through the Soulga Wellness mentorship program four years ago. We continue to build on our work together through Soulga and teaching at Goodspace in Toronto. Tash is super well educated and loves learning. If you asked me how many teacher training certifications she has I would say ‘too many.’

She has a beautiful way with words and making challenging practices accessible and supportive. I’m really pumped to have a co-teacher and a co-host alongside me this year. Welcome back Tash!

Suggested Packing List

Overall, we suggest packing light. Personally, I’ll be in board shorts 90% of the time 😁

Think comfy, relaxed, poolside, beachy stuff.

  • Yoga/workout clothes, bathing suit, beach clothes

  • Light sweater if evenings get chilly. Avg low temp in Nosara for this time of year is 22 degrees.

  • Flashlight, head lights or book lights. The lighting in the rooms and all over is quite dim (they use only low consumption 1 Watt LED bulbs). Your smartphone light is also sufficient.

  • Sunglasses, sunscreen, mosquito repellent (also available for sale at resort)

  • Reusable Water bottle

  • Flip flops for poolside

  • Sturdy Sandals for muddy roads on our walk to the beach

  • Sneakers if you plan to do any hiking adventures

  • A notebook or journal

  • Book(s) to read

  • Optional - Travel Yoga Mat - I suggest this b/c it’s lighter than a regular mat and can be folded up in your carry on. They also have mats at bodhi tree and they are totally fine to use and cleaned regularly.

If you have any other questions or concerns please reach out. My general philosophy is passport, phone, wallet. Everything else is replaceable or purchasable.
