Jaffer combined his love of athletics and yoga in 2010. He completed his 200-Hour YTT at Anjeli Yoga Teacher Training in Mississauga, Ontario. His teachings are inspired by his mentor and friend dallas delahunt. Since being introduced to yoga, he can no longer imagine a life without it. He feels yoga brings a unique combination of mindful awareness, spiritual enlightenment and physical strength. What he learns on the mat will often be a reflection of himself off the mat. Alongside this, his passion for music and hands-on assists combine for a truly unique experience!
Jaffer's teachings are accessible, affordable and community based. What this means is classes are all levels and designed to embrace a sense of belonging to a larger, more powerful community.
The Balance of Power
The Balance of Power is an affordable, all-levels power class for everybody and every BODY. Jaffer's journey through yoga over the last 6 years would not have been possible if affordable options were not available to him. Whether it was work benefits at lululemon or working at a yoga studio in exchange for unlimited yoga, he was fortunate to have affordable ways to cultivate his practice. But these options don't work for everyone. Quality, affordable yoga is rare and difficult to find and we need more of it. Jaffer is passionate about finding and creating more affordable ways to offer the gift of yoga.
That is why he is so grateful and excited for what is happening in the downtown Toronto community. lululemon Queen Street is offering a full schedule of affordable classes from fitness bootcamps to yoga classes. Because of their generosity and willingness to create community Jaffer is able to offer affordable $10 yoga classes every week.
De-bunking Power Yoga
Jaffer learned from his teachers to believe that Power yoga is meant to go beyond physical strength and allow students to develop powerful qualities like patience, compassion and gratitude. He never understood why so many power classes skip the benefits of flexibility, extended mat work, proper cool downs and, most importantly, savasana. In the Balance of Power Jaffer encourages students to find their own power in every pose and challenge students in different ways, whether it's a long plank, or a 10 minute savasana (and there will be both!). This practice is designed to be a 90 minute, complete practice that blends elements from Hatha Yoga, Power Yoga and Yin Yoga in ONE class. Students will leave feeling light, free, energetic, crystal clear, calm and connected! Experience 90 minutes of fun music, mindful movement and hands-on enhancements for an affordable $10 drop-in rate.
